Dr. Huajian Yao received his B.S. degree in 2001 and M.S. degree in 2004 in geophysics at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). In 2009 he received his PhD in geophysics at MIT. Then he worked in the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD as a postdoctoral Green Scholar in 2010-2012. In 2012 he joined the School of Earth and Space Sciences, USTC as a professor of geophysics. He has published ~150 research papers in the area of seismology and geophysics with 5000+ citations from Web of Science (h-index = 34) (>8000 from Google Scholar). His main research interests include seismic imaging using earthquake waveforms and ambient noise, lithospheric structure and deformation, earthquake rupture processes, array analysis, and geophysical inversion methods. He is an editor of Geophysical Journal International (GJI, 2018-) and Earth and Planetary Physics (since 2023-), an associate editor of Earthquake Science (2020-2023) and Seismological Research Letter (SRL, 2014-2018), and an editorial board member of Science China: Earth Sciences. He is now a Vice President of the Chinese Seismological Society. He received the Outstanding Young Scholar Fund of NSFC in 2021 and Science and Technology Award for Chinese Youth in 2020.
